Take Yourself to the Game with a Surround Sound System Installation

Enjoy the Immersive Experience of “Being There”

While our team didn’t quite make it this year, we are nothing if not persistently optimistic in New Orleans, LA. Next year, we’ll make it, at least to the playoffs. This year, let’s enjoy the big game!

Are you ready?

As AV consultants and smart home integrators, our team at Campo Better Living excels at creating the best home entertainment spaces available. We speak from experience when we say one of the technologies that can transform football from passively viewing to sitting on the 50-yard line is a surround sound system installation

Let’s explore what these systems bring to the table and why more homeowners than ever are opting for the fully immersive surround sound experience.

The Benefits of Surround Sound

A surround sound system creates an “at the game” experience. Even if you’re watching the game on an ultra-high-definition display or the latest OLED technology that provides brilliant images, it’s the sound that brings you into the game. You hear the missed tackle to the right of you and feel the football as it slides into the wide receiver’s hands. The crowd’s roar surrounds you as he crosses the goal line.

Of course, these systems do more than make the most of every sporting event. When listening to music, they transport you to the live performance, hearing the singer’s subtle emotions and every note of the guitar riff. When watching your favorite movie, you duck when you hear the blades of the propellers buzzing overhead and tires screeching around and behind you.

Options in Surround Sound

There are several options when creating the surround sound experience. The 5.1 channel system is one of the most common and refers to the strategic placement of five speakers and a subwoofer. Upgrading to the 7.2 set-up brings in two more speakers and another subwoofer. Subwoofers play a critical role, anchoring the soundstage and providing the deep background effects and the deepest bass.

However, it’s the Dolby Atmos set-up with in-ceiling or upward-firing speakers that transcends the listening experience. Dolby Atmos surround sound is object-based, enabling engineers to place audio within a 3D sound field—which allows up to 128 simultaneous audio streams.

Now you’re in the midst of the action, literally. You’re no longer in your comfy chair but in the center of the scene unfolding before you. Whether watching football or the latest blockbuster, much of the energy, engagement, and dynamics come from sound. And if you have a gamer in the family, they’d better be ready to duck and cover.
